Just after World War I, Mr. Walter Self incorporated the Company as Tennessee Armature & Motor Works and opened the doors on September 20,1926. In 1936, the name of the company was changed to Tennessee Armature & Electric and 2,000 shares of common stock with a par value of $100 were issued. In 1983, Koontz-Wagner in South Bend, Indiana purchased both Tennessee Armature and its subsidiary, Tennessee Associate Electric. In 1996, Tennessee Armature moved from its Jackson Avenue location to a new 23,000 sq. ft. facility at 1301 Galway Street in Knoxville. In 2008, Koontz-Wagner sold all of it holdings to High Street Capital Investment Group in Chicago. A year later the company was purchased by the Steffner Group in Chattanooga, leaving the construction group, Tennessee Associated, with High Street. At that time, Ron Collins became president of the company. |
